(Latest update as of 8/27/10)
The State's Contractor, DiPizio
Construction , has updated their schedule to
reflect work already completed. The week of the 30th will see the start of granite curb placement along
Buffalo Road. Sidewalks will be poured at the same time to minimize the
inconvenience to residents. This will result in a single 5-7 day window in
which each driveway will be inaccessible while the concrete cures. Parking
will be available on the opposite side of the road thru this period.
This work will then continue along the West side of Market Street thru the
Business District. Access will be maintained to all businesses, so please
continue to support your local shops. Interim street lighting has been
established to allow for the placement of the new lighting standards. The
plan is to restore sidewalks along this side of Market Street before beginning
work along the East side.
One way alternating traffic will be a possibility anywhere along Buffalo,
Market and High Streets during work hours from now thru the end of the
construction season. At this time there has been no talk of working
Saturdays. The Village water main upgrade continues to progress West along Main
Street. Service connections are now being made between the Stevens Brook
Bridge and Prospect Street. Most of this work is being done off the shoulder of
the road and does not require lane closures. The last section of main between
the Tonawanda Creek Bridge and Prospect Street will begin shortly.
Exchange Street will also get a new main under the East side parking lane.
Finally, National Grid has completed their work here and Time Warner
Cable is now moving their lines over to the new poles. Verizon
Communications will be the final utility to transfer their lines, hopefully
before the snow flies.

We have a solid commitment from our contractor that there
will be equipment rolling on Buffalo Road next week. There will be alternating
one-way traffic throughout the week. The residents along the South side of the
street will be the first to be impacted as their driveways will be inaccessible
for brief periods while they are cut back to the work limits and graded to
match the new roadway profile.
National Grid will continue with their overhead utility relocations along
Main Street which will require occasional flagging of traffic.
The Village's waterline work should be concentrated at the side street
intersections with Main Street as they drop back to install branch lines.
Residential service connections are expected to take place from the School-West
once the branch lines are in.
We will be posting a weekly work schedule in the Attica Penny Saver

DiPizio
Construction will be bringing in their equipment next week
Monday. Work is anticipated to begin on Buffalo Road (Rt. 238) as early
as Wednesday 14th. Drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic
between Market St. and the County Line (North Village Limit).
There will be a public meeting held at the High School from 6:00 - 8:00
PM Tuesday July 20th. From 6:00 - 7:00 will be an open house forum
leading up to a brief presentation at 7:00 PM. The project schedule and
plans will be available for viewing. DOT Officials will be present
throughout this time to field questions.
The Village's utility contractor will continue with the water main work
between Georges Dr. and the High School. Drivers can expect one-way
alternating traffic along Main St. in this area for the next two weeks.
The three side streets to the South will remain accessible throughout
this phase of the work. There will be brief periods of shut downs to the
water supply while the system is transferred over from the old main to
the new one. In most cases residents will received advanced notice of
these interruptions, with the exception being unanticipated damage to
the existing lines.
National Grid will be working in various locations around the Village
relocating utility poles and eventually removing the existing street
lighting system along Market Street in preparation for the installation
of the new decorative street lamps. There will be temporary light plants
in place during the transition period.
